Facing the challenge of better safeguarding its industrial areas, a corporation operating in the Gulf of Guinea deployed Tactical AVL by GINA, improving response time in 70% of cases and decreasing theft incidents by over 40% within the first year.

Ensuring safety and swift response in a high-risk, large-scale environment is paramount for any major industrial operation. To meet these demands, a multinational corporation that operates a large oil complex in the Gulf of Guinea, consisting of one primary and four subsidiary sites, involving 5,000 radio subscribers and 8 control rooms, leverages several measures such as ATEX TETRA radios, a safety assistant app, and extensive sensor networks.

Facing the challenge

The company recognized the need to further enhance the security of its industrial area. Given the potential for emergencies such as malfunctions, fires, gas leaks, intrusions, and explosions, immediate response capabilities were crucial. The company sought a solution that would:

  • Safeguard the routes of employees
  • Safeguard fuel transport vehicles prone to theft
  • Monitor movements effectively
  • Enforce restricted areas
  • Utilize camera systems for preemptive threat identification

To meet these requirements, the company decided to implement Tactical AVL by GINA.

Strategic Implementation

Key components of the Tactical AVL implemented:

  • Custom maps
  • Route tracking
  • Geofencing
  • Automatic alerts
  • SOS / Man down

As part of the Tactical AVL system, GINA has supplied security managers in control rooms with advanced mapping software that enhances security by providing clear visibility of vehicle and personnel movements. This is done thanks to the integration of radios, apps, and locators.

Geofencing has been instrumental in thwarting fuel theft, by sending instant alerts for route deviations.

The system’s tracking capabilities have swiftly apprehended unauthorized access attempts, reducing vandalism and sabotage. Camera analytics integration has been invaluable in accident prevention.

In emergency situations, such as a worker’s fall or detection of gas leaks, the ‚man down‘ feature and sensors have enabled immediate response, drastically reducing the time to provide critical aid and thus minimizing the severity of incidents.

The ability to import custom maps and monitor vehicle movements has provided a comprehensive view of operational activities, enhancing the coordination of emergency responses and routine operations alike. This level of overview has been particularly beneficial during executive visits.

Impactful results

Implementation of Tactical AVL has significantly enhanced response and situational awareness capabilities for security managers, bolstering overall security at its industrial site. In addition to several benefits of the implementation, two major ones stand out:

Faster response – Security managers now react more swiftly in 70% of cases, leading to substantial improvements in security and situational awareness.

Reduction in theft – The company has experienced a noteworthy decrease in theft incidents, with reported cases declining by over 40% within the first year of implementation.
