Abstract

The aim of the project was to extend emergency service number 155 in the Central Bohemian Region and to ensure better connection with the international emergency number 112. This project provides a comprehensive system of reception of the event, its processing and coordination of the rescue service crew.

Condition before implementation

Interventions of the Central Bohemian Medical Emergency Service was carried out using an application with command and map entry. Dispatchers did not have a reliable overview of the movement and status of the vehicle crew. Orientation was problematic in areas without paved paths. Basic medical information about the patient, position updates and patient condition updates were communicated solely through a radio station.

Condition after implementation

Interventions for individual crews are handed out using GINA intervention tablets. The crews see up-to-date information about the patient's location and his status. Cooperation between crews and other Public Security Forces units is online and it is visualized on the map by both dispatchers and individual crews. Up-to-date information about the patient, including his medical condition, illnesses and contact information, are visible to the crew directly on the GINA tablet. Possibility of selecting a map base for faster orientation in complicated terrain. Navigation to the place of intervention is provided by GPS built directly into the tablet. Visible points of interest such as hospitals, portable AEDs, and more. Online cooperation of all organizations of the Public Security Forces (112), including an Medical Emergency Service reduces arrival time to the scene.

Visualization of firefighting units is especially valuable regarding emergencies during which an automated external defibrillator is used. In case of such emergencies, a rescue team as well as the most available firefighting team with an automated external defibrillator are on the move. If we see on the map that fire fighters are already at the site with the defibrillator, the operator may inform the caller that the fire rescue unit is there already and ensure the fastest possible arrival at the patient.
